June is LGBTQ Pride Month

Over the past couple of years “Pride Month” was celebrated online with virtual events due to the global pandemic. This year the celebrations return with the in-person fabulous festivities we are known for.

The celebrations resume with parades, festivals, parties, concerts, marches, music, movies and more!

Across America and the world, streets will be filled with millions of LGBTQ+ people and their allies that will join in peace and unity to celebrate their rich history and bright future.

Pride events bring awareness to the LGBTQ+ experience and community. The parades celebrate their accomplishments, growth, visibility, contributions to society, the creativity of the people and the freedom to be themselves.

We are everywhere and we will proudly show the world the beauty and importance of our people and culture throughout June.

Each year the celebrations seem to get BIGGER & BETTER. There was a time in which you could only find parades and festivals in major cities but now there are festivities and events in small cities and towns across the globe.

If you want to attend a Pride celebration near you, use this link for a calendar of events.

You can filter your search by country, state, or city.

If you can’t attend an in-person event, invite your friends, family, and LGBTQ allies to your home or to a park for your own celebration.

I always enjoy having a BBQ with good friends, great music, and classic LGBTQ+ films. If you are looking for a great selection of movies and music for your own PRIDE celebration…..Take a look at these MOVIES… Site-Wide-Summer-Sale LGBTQ Movies

I particularly love my new, “fab” rainbow lava lamp that I found here.

This brings me to “WHY” I love writing about many of the products found at In my past life as a music buyer for a large entertainment chain I understood our customers and I took pride in bringing in products that made them happy.

Before I started my blog I looked over the selection at Deep Discount and I was impressed by the DEEP SELECTION of product and titles they had to offer. They truly have EVERYTHING, including hard-to-find music and movie titles that collectors often look for. “DEEP DISCOUNT” offers a DEEP SELECTION along with DEEP DISCOUNTS for you. I am proud of the selection I can offer you in my blog.

Check back throughout the month to hear about some of my favorite LGBTQ+ titles and another one of my favorite things about in June…“African Music Appreciation Month”

Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?

As I’ve said before, we celebrate PRIDE all summer long. And before summer gives way to fall I am thrilled to honor two important musical dramas beginning with…

Bohemian Rhapsody

This 2018 biopic musical drama tells the story of the life of one of the GREATEST voices in rock, FREDDIE MERCURY and his band, QUEEN. Original members of Queen consulted on the film, but it has been noted that some details were changed or are out of sequence from the true timeline. I suppose this made for a more entertaining and compelling film. Apparently, millions of people worldwide did not mind the slightly altered story since it opened to sold out audiences. Hardcore Queen fans rushed to the theaters on opening night. Some of the loyal fans caught the flaws in the storyline but everyone seemed to agree that Rami Malek, became Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody. The film began with the formation of Queen and followed their rise to fame up to their performance at Live Aid in 1985.

Word of mouth and massive press about the performance of Rami Malek kept the film in theatres for a long time. I remember seeing this film on opening week with a packed audience singing along with some of the most notable hits by Queen. In fact, this film was so popular that it came back to the theatres in a sing-along version.

Rami Malek won the Oscar and the Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role. Bohemian Rhapsody won a total of four Oscars, numerous other awards and the highly coveted Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture-Drama.

Bohemian Rhapsody exceeded all expectations and earned over 900 million worldwide. Due to its success fans were anxious to see the next musical drama about the life of Sir Elton John. Both films and artists had remarkably similar lives since both men were rock stars during the same era, both are members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, both men are gay and both are “LEGENDS”.

The film, Rocketman was also phenomenally successful and led to the Oscar for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture for Taron Egerton’s portrayal of Sir Elton John.

If you love classic rock, you will love both films.

As we celebrate PRIDE, I celebrate the artistry of these enormously talented Gay SUPER-STARS of ROCK. Pick up their MUSIC, DOCUMENTARIES and MOVIES….crank up the volume and ROCK OUT!

Supernova (2020)

Brutally Honest and touching performance by two Oscar winners

Taking a break from Summer Blockbusters for a minute to tell you about a love story. Supernova could have been the story of anyone, any couple, from anywhere on the planet but the British writer and director, Harry Macqueen gave us a tender and realistic story of a long-term relationship between two gay men.

Oscar winners, Colin Firth (Sam) and Stanley Tucci (Tusker) both give a touching and convincing performance of older men that have shared their love and life for over twenty years.

For anyone, gay or straight that has been in, or is currently in a long-term relationship,

this film will touch your heart and soul.

Both men are successful artists. Tusker is a writer that has been diagnosed with early onset dementia. He feels himself slipping away and is having difficulty finishing his latest novel. Sam is a concert pianist that has been putting his career on hold to take care of Tusker. He also wanted to spend quality time with Tusker as long as possible. But when Sam is asked to perform in another part of the country, they decide that one last road trip might be good for them. So, the two partners, crank up their old RV and set out towards the concert venue in the Lake District. Along their scenic journey they make a pit stop to visit and reconnect with family and friends.

The road trip seems to be just what their relationship needed. As they drive through the beautiful countryside of England, the two reminisce and relive old memories.

At night they stop to share their love of astronomy while gazing at the stars. Just like any other long-term couple on a road trip they bicker a bit too, but it always ends with hand holding, a little joke or a longing look into each other’s eyes. They both realize that their precious time together is fading fast so they try to make the most of every minute. Every decision the couple makes will impact both of their lives and they make many life-altering decisions. I’m now leaving it up to you to see the ending of the beautiful love story of “SUPERNOVA”

If you are in a long-term committed relationship, or if you are dreaming of one, Supernova is worthy of your time.

And if you’re anything like me, you’ll want to own it. You can get it from my friends at here:

Just like all groups of people the LGBTQ community is proudly connected but we are also just like everyone else. We have diversity among our own group. We all have different likes, dislikes, habits, hobbies, etc. Each one of us has our own unique tastes in the arts. Therefore, within the umbrella of Gay, LGBTQ or Queer cinema there lies the same genres and sub-genres of films and music. I will try to write about several Gay themed, dramas, comedies, documentaries, etc.

I personally feel that Supernova is one of our best dramatic love stories. It was an honor sharing this one with you. As I’ve mentioned before, the Pride celebration doesn’t just last through June. It continues all summer long. Drop back soon to hear more about the wonderful stories, films, music or TV shows that are from the LGTBQ community.

Celebrating All Summer, one of the sponsors of this blog, offers a deep selection of LGBTQ films, TV series and documentaries for for the Pride celebration…(I’m in!!!!!)

As I mentioned in my first Pride post, annual Pride festivals and celebrations continue through the summer at different times depending on the city you are in, or near. You may know how we love to find reasons to have more parties and PARADES. One is NEVER enough. In keeping with that spirit, this post is about a movie that proudly celebrated this culture, and broke through boundaries.

What could possibly happen if a straight man shows up at a party full of gay men?

I had a similar HILARIOUS incident that happened to me, join me at the end of this feature for that little dilemma.
